Us prosperity preachers have been attacked for years for saying that it pays to serve God. After having
studied the subject for a number of years it seems almost ridiculous to
me to suggest otherwise. Of course, God prospers those who serve him.
Wow! What a concept. Here's just a couple of scriptures. There are
many, many more. (In
fact we have a little bookmark we've put together with over 50 references
to prosperity scriptures. The front side of the bookmark is the image to the right. If
you'd like one email us and we'll happily send it out.)
Deuteronomy 28:1-11 (NIV) "1 If you fully obey the LORD your God and carefully follow all his commands that I give you today, the LORD your God will set you high above all the nations on earth. 2 All these blessings will come upon you and accompany you if you obey the LORD your God:
…11 The LORD will grant you abundant prosperity--in the fruit of your womb, the young of your livestock and the crops of your ground--in the land he swore to your forefathers to give you."
Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Anyway, now there's scientific proof that going to church causes you to prosper.
Jonathan Gruber, an economist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, claims that regular religious participation leads to better education, higher income and a lower chance of divorce. His results* (based on data covering non-Hispanic white Americans of several Christian denominations, other faiths and none) imply that doubling church attendance raises someone's income by almost 10%.
So double up on going to church and increase your income by 10%. Wonder what happens when people halve their church going.
